Grandmothers and Daughters in the Kitchen, Whatever
Let’s talk about mother-daughter days! Isn’t it cool to have a cooking partner, someone to learn from, or someone to teach? There’s nothing better than a mother-daughter day in the kitchen. This kind of day with your special family member can be smooth and unforgettable. On the flip side, it can be a day of bickering and attitude checks. The difference in what type of fun filled day a daughter can have with a mother is age. What kind of day would this be for you?
A mother’s love is the best thing for a little girl who’s in the process of growing into a woman. Lessons received in the kitchen play an important role in training young ladies how to care for their families. Giving and teaching such skills is much easier in the earlier stages of your daughter’s life. How old were you when you learned how to shake and bake?
It’s a wise move to pull daughters into the kitchen before the teenager years occur. If not, there’s a chance that she may pick up other interest and sign up for other things to do while leaving all the cooking to mama. When this comes about, most females grow up not knowing how to cook. Oftentimes, it can take years before the young lady attempts to prepare a full cook meal. The Daughter’s Food Kitchen may be abandoned. Life circumstances like relationships, college, working, dating, shopping, and other chores can keep her away from the kitchen.
Mothers and Daughters in the Kitchen, Whatever
Martha Stewart and her daughter, Alexis Stewart has probably had plenty of bickering and unforgettable quality time in the kitchen. Alexis came out with a show on Fine Living entitled “Whatever Martha”. The show is said to be a mockery of her mother’s vintage Martha Stewart shows, but many people appreciate it as a mother-daughter “keep it in the family” spin.
The way foods are cook in Mom’s Food Kitchen may differ to the way it’s done in the Daughter’s Kitchen. If you as a mother, or as a daughter, enjoy spending time in the kitchen with each other, then do it with care and open minds. So how about those attitude checks? Are you being nice? God knows how difficult it can be for two women to be in the same kitchen. But at the same time, it can be a valuable sharing know-how that can expose new cooking tips as well as getting to be acquainted withyour mother or daughter better. The best advice is to evaluate and come to an agreement on what tastes best, and what would make the best family recipe.

Australian food - What really is tim tam?
Australian food? what is in reality Australian food, does Australian food even exist? is often the debate happening in many discussion groups on the web.
Australian food has been strongly influence by hundreds of different cultures worldwide: English, Italian, Greek, Spanish immigrants to say a few. Australian Immigrants have brought their traditional food from their home countries and this has been combined with Australian produce and styles resulting in a well renowned and unique fusion, is this Australian food some ask.
The native ‘Australian’ Aboriginals too have influenced culinary Australia with their ‘Bush Tucker’ which means ‘ Australian Food ‘ so when you’re planning your Australia visit, prepare yourself for some real local delicacies that are a combination of the familiar with the outrageous, maybe Australian food. Some are trying to establish that Australian Food is actually Aboriginal food as the only real and authentic Australian food. Australian food or not it is hard to define.
Australian aborigines in fact selected Australian food which was available around them and ate it for nutritional purposes. There was no refrigeration or storage containers at that time in Australia. In every part of Australia, the local food knowledge of which Australian food plants were edible, palatable, or delicious, as well as the best time for harvest, harvest and preparation methods, were passed down by word of mouth to the next generation. That was the real Australian Food for the aborigines.
If you are passing though Australia you may as well taste some of the animals that some consider this to be the ultimate Australian food and when back home regret not to have had the opportunity to try. What Australian food did you try?
Have you had Kangaroo meat, crocodiles or emus meat many are asked. Crocodile meat though not common throughout Australia is available in some North Territory restaurants, perhaps as a novelty more then anything else and with some restaurants wanting to create Australian food based menus, that include Kangaroo and Emus. You might want to head off there to give that sort off Australian Food a try, maybe….
To a more conventional Australian Food, diary in Australia is very popular with a thriving cheese industry that exports worldwide. While we are talking about cheese, we can’t fail to mention the wine produced in large amounts by its wine regions, which have gained a strong reputation overseas. In addition to it’s grapes, Australia regions are ideal for the growth of a good Australian food range of fruits from apples and oranges to more exotic fruits like kiwi fruits, pineapples, bananas and mangoes.
So again Australia food …. Australia with its waterways has some fantastic fresh sea food which is cooked in a variety of unique ways. Two examples of popular Australian food indulgence are Crayfish and Barramundi. Crayfish are a crustacean like lobster, but instead of large claws the Crayfish have a spiky exterior for defense. Barramundi, a tasty prized fighting fish, are a large fish found in both fresh and salt water especially in the North of Australia a real Australian food love.
Damper is a more quintessential example of Australian food. It is a type of bread it was common amongst bush tucker (food) settlers. Macadamias are a tasty Australian nut that is a popular duty free item when you’re at an Australian airport so you might want to have have some of this Australian food delight in your suitcase to show off at arrival.
For a true indigenous Australian food experience you could try some traditional Aboriginal food like yams or grubs. You will probably have to be on a tour that involves finding yams or grubs in the appropriate region to sample this type of Australian food.
Another well known Australian Food is certainly Vegemite : an Australian food yeast based spread, similar to the US Marmite. It has an extremely strong distinct taste that is either loved or disliked and some say, likely an acquired taste.
So…some great Australian food that really is worth trying at least once, somethings you can only wish you tried once you have left the airport.
So Australian food or not Australian food? We leave this dilemma with you to be solved!

Whether you have a small army to sustain or you just prefer to cook in large batches, you will love the Cuisinart Food Processor 14 Cup appliance. the Cuisinart 14 Cup is a large machine that is meant to chop or shred a large amount of vegetables, fruits, or anything else that you want to process. There are an astonishing amount of purposes for this larger model of food processor One of them is that you can feed your family nourishing meals while watching your budget.
When you purchase fresh vegetables and incorporate them into your recipes, you are feeding your family good quality food. When you buy commercially processed vegetables from your grocery store, they usually contain sodium and preservatives. Packaged vegetables are not as healthy as fresh vegetables.
But not many of us has time to cut up fresh vegetables every night.
One thing that you can do is to cut up your vegetables for the week which can be done with the Cuisinart Food Processor 14 Cup unit. This processor affords you quite a bit of capacity for several day’s worth of vegetables, which you could put in freezer containers and save for the week. This could save you time at the end of the day and help you to add your fresh frozen vegetables while cooking. Unlike store-bought frozen vegetables, the vegetables you freeze will never have any preservatives.
One other job that you can do using the Cuisinart Food Processor 14 Cup unit is preparing entire dinners. You could use it for blending together sauces or gravy and also grind meat right into the gravy. If you like homemade spaghetti sauce using fresh ingredients, you could accomplish that by inserting fresh tomatoes and meat into your Cuisinart. Next, you just transfer it to a pot and cook it, then freeze the leftovers for later use.
Shredded and grated cheese is more expensive than chunk cheese. You can save a lot of money by making fresh shredded and grated cheeses which require just moments in the Cuisinart food processor 14 cup unit. Grating hard cheese by hand requires a long time, but when you shred cheese with the food processor, it takes no time at all.
Are you a salad lover? You can make a meal-sized salad by shredding lettuce and other fresh vegetables right into the Cuisinart food processor 14 cup. A salad that is undressed will stay fresh in an air tight container for a week. You can incorporate this into your meals for the week and give your family their daily recommended allowance of vegetables.
Whether you feed a small army or just want to save time by having a machine do the work for you, you can get the job done by working with the Cuisinart food processor 14 cup unit. When you are finished saving time and money and enjoying great food, you can place the main components into the dishwasher for easy cleaning.

“Pecan” is a term used by the native people in North America for nuts that require stones or rocks to crack open. This indicates that the crop originated in North America. Based on historical records, pecan nuts trees have been grown as early as the 16th century by native North American people.
Early settlers of the eastern part of America and the valleys of Mexico tamed wild pecans and made them one of their food sources. They used the pecan nuts to make an alcohol called “Powcohicora”. Pecans became popular for these people because they are easier to break open than other nuts found in the Americas and also for their unique and great taste.
During the last ears of the 18th century, easterners are starting to grow pecans in their gardens, even famous political figures such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
The late 1700s and early 1800s are the times when pecans are produced commercially for public consumption. New Orleans, Louisiana has become one of the center of pecan production. This is the time when varieties of pecan nuts in different sizes have been discovered in pecan groves and orchards and new ways and techniques to grow and harvest pecans have been developed. Texas has also become one of the centers of production of pecans. They also started to manufacture them into candies and sweets.
These days, pecans are still found inside every American home as candies, pralines, brittles, and other kinds of treats that use pecans as an ingredient. Eating pecans has become a tradition for many American families across the United States.

Sprouting is a simple and amazing adventure. I first started sprouting mung beans and alfalfa seeds about thirty years ago. At that time it wasn’t a common thing to see in our western world. It was a little more difficult back then to find like-minded people in this health-nut craze.
Sprouts Can Grow Anywhere
The simplicity of growing sprouts makes them perfect food for any kitchen in any home, climate, city or country. They rival meat in nutritional value, no soil or sunshine is required, they areinexpensive and they grow in 3 to 5 days.
People who are really into growing their own fresh produce find this to be a great solution for the cold or snowy winter months. Since sprouts grow right in your own kitchen, the weather or season doesn’t matter.
Loaded with Protein and Vitamins
Sprouted soybeans, take on some additional and wonderful properties. They do loose a little bit of their protein, more so if you grow them long like shown in the picture. You’ll retain more of the protein if you shorten the growth time.
What surprised and amazed the researchers is the increase in both Vitamin C and Vitamin A that takes place during the sprouting. There is about a 600% increase in the Vitamin C. The Vitamin A increase averages 300%. There is no loss in the B-complex vitamins with the sprouting so these beans turn into a power house of goodness.
The Simple Sprouting Directions:
Wash 1/4 cup soybeans in cold water. Change the water a few times during the wash. Soak the beans in cool water 4 to 12 hours. Overnight should do it. Drain, rinse well and put the beans in a clean mason jar.
Cover the jar opening with cheesecloth held with a rubber band. Or you can get plastic lids with tiny holes in them. Health food stores generally have these. Sprouting kits are a common thing now.
Place the jar on its side somewhere away from any direct or indirect light. I have a brown glass jar that I use to keep the light out. For the next 4 or 5 days, you need to rinse the beans well and drain them well at least twice a day. I’ve found that soybeans sprout better with more rinses, so I generally rinse them 4 or 5 times a day.
Usually during the second day you’ll see the hulls breaking away and falling off. They will float up during the rinsing so that you can remove them from the jar. You can start eating the sprouts anytime after the hull are gone. It’s up to you how long you want them to grow.
Keep the sprouts in the refrigerator and use them within a day or two. They are great for salads and stir-fry or even a snack with a little salt sprinkled on them. Enjoy!

Soybeans contain more protein than any other food we eat. But they need to go through a small amount of preparation before we make that pot of fresh soymilk.
Soak, Soak, Soak
Bean soup was a regular on the list of meals in my house when growing up. The beans were always set out in a pot of water the night before so they could go through the swelling process. I don’t know if my mother really knew the value of this step other than the advantage of the beans cooking faster.

Just like you would soak pinto, black or any other bean, it’s very important to soak the soybean for at least 6 hours. Soybeans contain an enzyme called trypsin. Soaking breaks that enzyme down so the wonderful protein contained in soybeans becomes digestible.
Soaking also reduces another enzyme called lipoxgenase and helps remove some of that “beany” taste. And, of course, we want to cut down the starches with soaking to reduce flatulence.
Enjoy the Benefits
Once the soybeans have been soaked for 6 to 12 hours and you cook them with a Soyabella Soymilk Maker, which is set at the optimum temperature, you’ll reap the wonderful protein benefits.

It’s all about the live bacteria that’s in the yogurt. It helps in digestion and protects you against harmful bacteria.
When most people hear the word bacteria, it’s automatic to think things like “bad and harmful.” But there truly is such a thing as good bacteria.
The live cultures that you add to the milk of your choice when making yogurt plays a major role in many of the healthy qualities yogurt contains.
Contribution to Colon Health. Much of our health is dependent on the health of our colon. Yogurt is made with intestinal-friendly bacterial cultures that help foster a healthy colon. These cultures can lower the chance of colon diseases. Friendly bacteria deactivate harmful substances such as nitrites and nitrates before they can become carcinogenic or cancerous.
Boost Immunity. Research has shown that daily eating of yogurt produces higher levels of immunity boosting interferon. It’s also been discovered that these bacterial cultures stimulate the white cells in the bloodstream to help them fight infection.
Lower Cholesterol. Some studies are showing that yogurt can help reduce blood cholesterol. One reason for this may be because yogurt binds bile acids, which is known to lower cholesterol. Another reason may be because the live cultures can assimilate the cholesterol getting it to move through the body.
Decrease Yeast Infections. Research has also shown that women who eat yogurt daily have a decreased incidence of vaginal yeast infections. Once again, it’s the live cultures at work fighting against the bad bacteria.
Helps with Other Nutrients. Yogurt cultures increases the absorption of B-vitamins and calcium. With this assistance in digestion your body will absorb and be able to use more of the goodness in the other foods you eat.
Help with Healing After Illness. If you’ve had to take antibiotics for any reason, your body needs bacterial help. Antibiotics kill the healthy bacteria right along with the harmful. The live bacterial cultures in yogurt can help keep the harmful ones from taking over in the intestines. It’s a good practice to eat yogurt every day while taking antibiotics and continue for a couple weeks after the antibiotics.
The only thing that could make yogurt better is homemade yogurt. With all these wonderful attributes, you can make it even better by having it fresh. Store-bought contains additives to give longer shelf life, but even so, the bacteria value weakens over time.
