The Necessity Of Healthy Living After A Lap Band Procedure

You’ve finally done it! After a period of month or perhaps years you’ve gathered information, weighed options and finally decided that a lap band is for you. It feels wonderful while taking the first step to change something in your life from bad to good. That being said, to get to your goal weight the lap band procedure alone is not the cure. You must be ready and willing to lead the charge in changing old eating habits and exercise routines in order to assure the success you seek. The following a couple of points to consider as you make this journey from flab to fab.

Number One. IT’S NOT ABOUT THE FOOD,

Fat doesn’t come from not eating. People gain weight when they eat food that isn’t healthy. Not so much things we should never eat, but eating excessive amounts of things for which we should limit our consumption. Our first priority even before the lap band surgery should be to sit down and convince ourselves that we ARE going to change our eating habits in order to achieve what we set out to do in the first place. What? To lose weight.

Number Two. Everyone needs to exercise, whether they have a lap band or not.

It is absolutely true that most of us do not like exercising. Overweight people especially don’t like to exercise but if you’ve gone so far as to get a lap band then you may as well go the extra mile, “no pun intended.” Start with something you really enjoy doing,start slowly. The most effective method of exercising to begin with is walking. It’s expensive and easy to use. By wearing a good pair of shoes and with a positive outlook you can walk off more than pounds. If you are interested in dancing, go ahead and try it. You should dance a little bit everyday to some of your favorite dance music. Once your workout has made you feel stronger and given you increased energy, it’s time to add resistance to your routine. One should start his day by doing a little bit of what he likes. When it is your habit you will miss it when you skip a day.

Three. Remember that attitude is an important component of the solution!

Now that we know to eat healthy foods that are good for us, in moderation and we know to exercise a little everyday the glue that’s going to hold it all together is called “attitude.” Our approach, the manner we consider about something is a main contributor in our long-standing achievement. Remember that positive reinforcement is extremely important. Before starting your morning routine everyday,you should stand in front of mirror and say to yourself that,today you will live up to your promise and do everything necessary to enable you in achieving your goal of losing weight. Realize that even though you have a lap band it’s ultimately u and your attitude that goings to help it do it’s job. No one else, only you can do it.

Four. FINDING YOUR SUPPORT STRUCTURE.

Your support group is important whether you have a lap band or not. Placing positive people in our lives will help us better achieve our goals. You will enjoy being around fun friendly people. The more you move, the more you lose and just go when friends say to go. Tell your family and friends about your goals and how you plan to reach them and recruit their support. There will be those who will make an attempt to sabotage you and the moment you realize who are they,you should shy away from them till you think that you can refuse them for their poor eating habits.

Everything you’ve done, everything you’re doing, it’s all for you. Deciding to get the lap band means that you will do everything in your power to change your body, eating habits, workout routine, attitude and negative friendships. For the common good, there is a need that all things work together. This is your time, so take the time to make it successful and perhaps be able to one day help someone else be successful at it also. Enjoy the new you!
