I saw a woman at the airport being told she had to buy two seats and I understood how she felt. I have not always been on the heavier side. At one point in my life I felt that I was at the right weight for my body size. As I started packing on the pounds I would notice the looks people would give me they saw me on the street I feel the eyes staring at me whenever I go out to eat at a buffet. I was ashamed when I would sit down to eat in front of others. Other people did not have to tell me what was healthy or not. I could not enjoy a meal because of the opinions of stranger.
I also remember a time when I used to take a bus to get to work. As my trip continued, the number of open seats disappeared. There came a time where the only seat that was available was next to me and a parent suggested that their child take it. The five year old screamed that it was not possible for her to squeeze into such small seat. My face turned a thousand shades of red.
All of these situations brought attention to what I already knew about myself. I had a serious weight problem. Self pity was not going to solve the problem that I had created. The only person who caused me to have a weight problem was staring me in the mirror. No matter how much I wanted to not be the cause of the problem, I had to face the facts that it was my fault and I had to fix it. Yes my feelings have been hurt on many occasions by people calling me names and giving me looks, but those uncomfortable situations never pushed me enough to set me in motion to do something about I, but I had to get my confidence up to where I could believe in myself and also exercise some type of self-discipline to know that I had to find some way to learn how to lose weight fast, and there was no time like the present.
I know being overweight is a real health problem. Being concerned about your appearance is something that everybody concerns themselves with to some extent. We constantly worry about what others are saying. All of the comments that are said about us cause us to doubt whether we can change or not. As I approached my fortieth birthday, I looked around at the different things in my life. I was in a happy marriage and loved my children. We had managed to buy a good home in a good neighborhood. I earned a nice income that was able to provide us with the things we needed. It appeared that my life was going the way that it should and I had most of what I needed.
Unfortunately, everything was not perfect. I was not as healthy as I wanted. My waistline seemed to be growing every year. It was not something I wanted. But as I looked around I noticed something. The whole family could withstand losing some weight. It was not that anyone in my family was obese. The problem was that none of us were exactly skinny either. I think that I set a bad example that was being followed by the others and decided to do something about it, but I knew that it was not a case of me deciding on a way how to lose weight fast at home in a week, but rather a time for my whole family to start making better choices about how we were treating our bodies and decide on how we could improve the choices. I set a goal for our family to start eating right and exercising more.
Deciding that it was time to get healthy as a family was not difficult. There were other things that were going to be much harder. Getting my wife and children to agree that we should all do this was the first thing I had to do. After that, it was a matter of determining exactly what healthy choices were. It was something that would have be decided together. The first thing we talked about was food. To do this we wrote down what we had for meals during the past few weeks. As we tracked our meals, the theme of eating out kept reappearing. We all knew that too much fast food was not healthy and changing this would go a long way in improving our diet and although cutting it out would not help us learn how to lose weight fast it would help us start to lose some weight if we were able to combine it with other changes in our lifestyle, and we had to figure out why we had become dependent on things like fast food and snacking to keep us full.
We knew we would have to make some changes in our daily routine to accomplish our goals. We made a commitment too eat more meals together. That helped us stop depending on the local drive thru for dinner. Cooking meals at home allowed us to choose healthier foods to eat. We would also be able to spend more time together to learn about each other’s lives. As we got healthier, we learned more about each other. The second thing we agreed on was to stop buying all of the snack food. instead of chips and ice cream we chose apples and carrot sticks for things to eat between meals. The best way to stop eating things that we should not eat was to get rid of them.
The other thing we decided to do was to walk as a family at least every other night. The length of the walk was not what was important. Doing it as a family is what made it work. It made all of us feel better that we made it a family activity.
Our family has been making healthy choices for around six months. We all are happier with the way that we look. More importantly our family has improved a lot. I had no idea when this started that that would happen. It is something I would recommend for anyone to try.

Now that Christmas is over, our lives will return to normal. Remember that you will have to make some unpleasant choices when you are faced with different temptations. Do not think about the instant gratification. Understand the long term effects of your decision. It is not always easy to pass up the temptations. Realize the possible negative effects.
See what you can accomplish over the next twelve months. You do not have to rush getting healthy. When next Christmas arrives you will be in better shape.

In addition to diet a person needs to work out. Exercise is important to good physical health. Not everybody can workout several hours a day and that is okay. The truth is that in order for a person to stay healthy they need to do some type of exercising. If a person can spare the time than they should do it every day. If this is not something that you can commit to, than look for alternative ways to work out. It can be as simple as a walk around the block after dinner.
Lastly a person should relax. The more stressed you are, the more fat wants to stay on your body. Give yourself some time off. You can rest you mind and body in any way that you want. Your body will benefit from the reduction of your stress no matter how you do it. And that is the ultimate goal.
