Cosmetic Suregery

Commonly known as plastic suregery procedure, cosmetic suregery is involved in enhancing and restoration of physical appearance of the external surface of the body parts. Studies claim that nearly 11 million procedures were carried out in the United States in the year 2006. A rise in the number of operations is also documented among all ethnic and racial groups.

The five most common cosmetic suregery operations in the United States include, breast augmentation, nasal suregery , eyelid suregery, liposuction and abdominoplasty. Breast augmentation, more commonly known as breast enlargement, is a common cosmetic suregery procedure where saline or silicone gel implants or fat grafting is used to improve the size and the appearance of the breast. Apart from this, operations including breast reduction and breast lift are also be applied to improve the appearance and the form of the breast.

The next cosmetic suregery procedure does the total opposite of the suregery that we talked about above. Liposuction is one of the common cosmetic suregery used for removing body fat from the parts of the body. This is also a very common operation aimed at enhancing one s physical appearance. The suregical procedure for firming the abdomen, abdominoplasty is done with liposuction as it reduces the extra fat of the abdomen. Cosmetic suregery operations also exist including rhytidectomy (face lift) and chemical peel which are applied to remove lines and the signs of aging from one’s face.

These operations give people a opportunity to improve their lives highly. The benefits include high self-esteem, better emotional health and improved self-confidence. In addition, the people who underwent cosmetic suregery operations tend to be more outgoing and more involved in social interactions than prior to treatment.

Although these operations are relatively effective, they also carry certain health dangers. Patients suffering from heart diseases, lung diseases and diabetes have a higher risk of having complications such as stroke, heart attack and blood clots during the process. Therefore, the physician (surgeon) should gather the medical history of the patient and should inform the patient regarding the likely cosmetic suregery complications. Moreover, complications attached to anesthesia, skin infection, skin scarring, bleeding and lasting nerve damage may also arise due to the procedure.

Usually, cosmetic suregery operations are highly expensive. The cost may vary from state to state as it is taxed in some states and may also count on the type of procedure. The common physician’s fee rests close to $3000 while the total expenditure may cost as much as 1 million dollars.

cosmetic surgery promises a new sense of life to many people. Although there are some dangers involved in the procedure, it is stated that the benefits outbalance the dangers.
